I have a few Aqara T1M lights. I added them through Matter, I believe I did this by integrating the Aqara Hub when it was discovered. This is what the device page indicates, too. I know these lights are zigbee repeaters, but when I look at the map of the Zigbee network in HA the lights don’t show up. Other aqara devices that I added directly to ZHA do. If they are integrated through the aqara hub, does that mean they don’t particucipate in the zigbee network as a repeater or they do, but ZHA can’t show them because they are in the hub? Any insight is appreciated.
If you added them through matter then they do not participate in your HA zigbee mesh they’re participating in a zigbee mesh controlled by that hub which is then connecting to HA via matter. The matter huib is providing service. ZHA or Z2M are not in the picture as far as those are concerned
Thanks for the response. It makes sense, but is this a good thing? Does it make sense to have 2 separate Zigbee meshes - One that you can control and one that is controlled by aqara and only like aqara products. I suppose with the hub you are almost ensured stability. I am unsure if the hub is considered local though, so that would be a downside.
Matter is local control.
Do they work? If so you’re overthinking things.
It only matters if your device or your zigbee mesh are having issues.
Thanks again! Everything works. Knock on wood! Good insight and perspective!
