For those asking about Matter support and Home Assistant. I purchased the Aqara hub because I wanted the Aqara lock… and with HA Core 2023.12.x (and newer) and Matter Server 5.x - HA was able to pick up the hub through Matter and the Smart Lock is recognized as a device and the entities passed are lock/unlock and battery status.

The above mentioned discount is most likely because of the new products Aqara is releasing in 2024 such as the Smart Lock U300. They are also releasing a new hub, the Hub M3, so if you do not own a hub yet you may want to wait.
