Aqara U100 Smart Lock

Hey @vladimir_korobov - how did you go with this extending? Did you get more than one Zigbee network to be reliable? I have the same challenge as I want to use this lock on a 2nd zigbee network and then integrate via Matter to HA.

SO been trying to see if there is ANY way to see who opens the lock in HA and still havent be able to come up with anything. I have the M2 hub rn.
I was wondering if there is a way i can see who opens the lock, is there a different hub i need or am i SOL

It seems you might be able to do this with Matter signals, which it’s only supported on the M3 hub for now. Hopefully they’ll add support for other hubs like the M2.

Just upgraded the E1 hub to Firmware 4.3.2 and ā€œExpose to Matterā€ is now an option.

There may be more than one update to install. Repeatedly touch ā€œFirmware Updateā€ until ā€œYour firmware is up to date.ā€

With everything integrated, has anyone had problems with the U100 freezing, not responding to keypad input and homekey, where only a key can open the lock and a reset via a battery pull is required?

Some say that the distance between the hub (E1, M2, etc.) and the lock is a factor while others say that lithium batteries make it more reliable. One thing is for sure, there are many reports of this problem. I am curious about if the folks with the HA integration have seen similar issues.

Thanks.

Me for sure, I’d say every 3 months it won’t respond to any internal or external inputs until I pull the battery.

There have been some discussions about battery level being the cause of the problem. Some say that using lithium batteries help. At the same time, person wrote that they have two U100s and one has this problem while the other one does not, so who knows.

I had this exact problem, sent them an email asking about it and they told me it was a hardware issue. Sent me a new one free of charge.

do you know if this is now working for the u100? (ie home key when using the lock over matter via zigbee hub)

thanks.

Just wanted to share my setup and findings regarding the Aqara U100 lock in a mixed HomeKit + Matter environment.

I’ve connected the U100 directly to HomeKit to retain HomeKey functionality. I’ve also added the lock to the Aqara M3 Hub and bridged it to HomeKit via Matter, which results in a second lock accessory appearing in HomeKit, but vastly improved performance.

Here’s what I’ve found so far:

  • Push Notifications: HomeKit does not send push notifications (e.g., lock/unlock events) for the Matter-connected version of the lock. Notifications are only delivered from the direct HomeKit integration.
  • Jammed Status Reporting: Neither the direct HomeKit integration nor the Matter integration reports the jammed state correctly. However, the Matter-connected lock does accurately report when the lock is still unlocked due to a failed locking attempt (e.g., when the bolt is obstructed). This makes it slightly more reliable in terms of lock state visibility, even though it still doesn’t explicitly flag the lock as ā€œjammed.ā€

This hybrid setup provides the benefit of HomeKey via direct HomeKit and improved lock state accuracy and responsiveness via Matter, but it’s still not ideal. Has anyone had issues with push notifications for the lock in HomeKit over matter?

This is exactly how I have mine setup. Can you tell me how/if you’ve setup a script or custom sensor to display lock jam status?

I personally have done this with Alexa, since Alexa DOES report jams for supported Matter hardware (I have it bridged to HA Matter, and Alexa Matter). There in Alexa, I have a routine which can see if the lock is jammed or not, and it will set an HA input boolean to match the state. However, it’s still not 100% reliable so I’m curious how others are detecting this.

Thanks for sharing your findings!

Neither HomeKit nor Home Assistant report the jammed status correctly over Matter. It will do the following instead:

Matter Integration

  • Bolt Fails to Extend, lock status reported as unlocked
  • Bolt Fully Extended, lock status adjusted to locked

HomeKit Direct Integration:

  • Bolt Fails to Extend, lock status will report as locked
  • Bolt Fully Extended, lock status reported as locked

So at least on the matter side of things it accurate represents the lock is in-fact NOT locked. Unlike the direct bluetooth HomeKit integration.

Anyone know if it could be possible to link lock status states to HA using IFTTT as a workaround? Currently have the lock set up only through HomeKit, do not own an aqara hub and really have no desire to connect it to matter. All I’m looking to do is create an automation based off of if the lock is unlocked or locked.

Just wanted to share that after 8+ months of using three u100 locks in my house and I couldn’t be happier, actually surprised on a couple items:

  1. Fingerprint sensor - Exceeds my expectations. I have yet to need to use my passcode. In fact, I’ve definitely forgotten what it is. This includes the door lock on my garage that is exposed to the elements. I have had to wipe the water away, but once wiped, it detects my fingerprint without issue.
  2. Battery Life - I forget the batteries I used now, but my lowest door is still at 73% after 9 months of multiple times a day use. The least used door is at 84%. Never expected I’d get much more than 6 months, let alone what appears to be possible multi-year usage based on previous door lock reviews of similar items.
  3. Notifications in HA - The E1 hub with the Matter integration has been flawless. I have never needed to reboot or otherwise manage this device after the initial setup and updates. My integrations are nearly instantaneous. I.e. I have colored motion lights that I change based upon door lock status. Easily within 1 second of unlocking my door the lights change accordingly. Phone notifications for the door unlock is also nearly instantaneous on Android and iPhone with HA or the default Aqara app. I ran both notifications in parallel for a while, but after after ensuring I wasn’t missing anything, I disabled notifications from the Aqara app.

Overall I’m happy with my purchase and definitely have recommended to my friends and family.

@issacn - That’s wonderful news. Thanks much for the report.

I’ve been meaning to re-do my U100 setup. Originally installed w M2 hub. But not all features working. I did buy an E1 explicitly for this purpose, so that’s great news.

One question: Do you by any chance also use HomeKit integration with it?
