Anyone solve the unresponsiveness issue with this lock? I received a replacement but after a few weeks the lock keypad is unresponsive.
Iāve just installed one of these, linked to HA via M3 Hub. I see the lock state, and can lock and unlock.
Has anyone managed to be able to view what user unlocked the door via HA linked to the M3 Hub? I canāt see any way of doing this currently.
Also - managed to link to HomeKit and added Home Key to my phone & watch, but for the life of me canāt find how to do it for my wife. We donāt have an Apple TV or Home Pod, we are Google Home devices (but iPhones) in our house. Is it possible to have 2 users on Home Key?
Thanks in advance
So the U100 is a prime day deal and Iām considering picking one up ā but I had a few questions that I didnāt see in this thread (though itās huge, so I may have missed it).
A) Can I make it work with another zigbee controller? I already have one, so buying their propietary hub seems extraneous. (The comments in this thread seem to suggest no, but others imply maybe yes?)
B) Can I make it work without the cloud in any way? I want to directly connect to it from HA and control it/see it from there, and manage it remotely without installing any of their apps on my devices or giving another company my personal information.
Tell me you havenāt read the thread without telling meā¦
Has anyone got to retain Apple Key and have this working in HA without the hub? I ask because I donāt want to add an additional Zigbee network just for these locks (via the Aqara hub).
I have not.
In fact I was having problems with distance with my two U100ās so now I have two additional useless zigbee networks on top of my primary
FYI - The U300 is out and on sale on Amazon today/tomorrow. Iām swapping my U100 for it because the deadbolt on the U100 keeps getting caught in my door (very low tolerance for slight mis-alignment).
no and no. itās a terrible lock and I wish I never bought it. Really hope better brands will make something similar soon so I can ditch them immediately.
Is HA Bluetooth an option if I was to extend my Bluetooth network near to the lock? Could I then have Homekit/Apple Key AND HA integration?
My home lock lasted almost a year before the keypad failed. It unlocked and locked from the app. Aqara had the replacement here within 3 days and did not request return of the defective unit. (known issue?) the lock was under a covered patio so never had sun or rain. The tinkerer in me is now searching for a failed part on the board to see if it has any salvage potential. Capacitors seemed ok, so it must be internal to a chip or the keypad itself. ideas/suggestions welcomed.
Lucky, you donāt know what youāre talking about. You donāt need Aqaraās app to use the lock - you should use it to set up the lock, but then donāt need it. And it certainly doesnāt need any cloud connection, whether you use the lock alone or with an Aqara hub.
Been working flawlessly here for a year. Butā¦ I know how to install locksets, frame doors, etc.
No. Get an an Aqara hub, connect it to your network via WiFi or ethernet. Much better performance in both HA and Homekit.
Get an Aqara hub. No extra networks that youāll see or need to manage (just a link between lock and hub - yes itās zigbee, no it doesnāt cause any issues with a main zigbee network). Lock connects to hub, hub connects to WiFi or ethernet. Homekit and HA connect to hub with Matter over same wifi or ethernet. Performance is greatly improved over using Bluetooth. My main zigbee network still more stable and reliable than Z-wave with HA.
IMO, itās one of the best locks on the market from a performance and appearance perspective.
The absolute only issue I have with it is that it will AUTO LOCK soon after my wife unlocks it with her phone/watch. Autolock is turned OFF on the lock via the settings app. Never happens to anyone else in the house. Strange AF.
@HVR88 Thanks so much for posting that. I had bought a U100 last year, with plans for 1 or 2 more, as it had such an excellent feature set for my needs. But then I got really confused by all the discussions here. Yours clarifies it!
One question: I bought an M2 hub with it. Do I need an M3 to achieve the Matter piece?
I was able to change 99% of the U100 settings via Bluetooth, but it will NOT let me adjust auto lock unless I buy an M3 hub, which I donāt need because I already own plenty of Thread/Matter routers.
This is a terrible restriction.
And I realize now this is the U100 thread, not the U300 thread. Dangit - sorry. FYI, this IS a restriction on the U300.
Just chiming in to say I have it working fine with Matter and the E1 hub. Tempted to buy another U100 (+E1 hub bundle) now that they are on sale again.
Hmm, thanks, thatās interesting. The E1 hub is sure a LOT cheaper than the M3, & if the U100 is all that Iām using it forā¦
my challenge with the hub and using zigbee to connect to it is that the house is large, I have 3 entrances and one is 50 metres from another so Iād need more than one hub unless I start extending a 2nd zigbee network.
I just ran into this. The G3 Hub I have is over 50 feet away from the U100 and it stopped connecting. So I grabbed the cheapest Aqara zigbee device I had on hand (a smart plug) and paired it with the G3 and now it meshes out to the front door where the lock is. I just had to plug it in about halfway between the two devices.
I just received U100 and M3 hub.
Installed both and I canāt ass U100 to M3 hub. The QR code on lock is HomeKit code.
I do not see U100 in the list of the smart devices in Aqara app.
What I am doing wrong?
Update. My Aqara account was connected to China server (from time of FP2 experimentation). Once switched to US server, I was able to find U100.
Now connected to M3 hub and I can control lock as Matter device thought M3 hub. However, hub needs to be close to Lock. I am planning another lock, so need to extend Aqara zigbee mesh. Not ideal (to say the least), becuase I already have 2 zigbee network at home. That will be third
Iād purchased the U100 about a year ago. Thinking it would be similar to their other devices to set up. 10 minute rule, if I canāt set something up within that timeā¦back it goes. The Lock made it to about 9 minuets. Complexity barriers - no access via ZHA, QR code scan (just have an IPad, no phone), Aqara Hub $$. Back it went. Thanks Amazon.
P.S. - And my Tuya bulbsā¦ lesson learned there but I finally got them working San colour changing, dimming (but Alexa works).
