Aqara W100

Hello, I just recently bought the Aqara W100 and connected it to HomeAssistant, but unfortunately there is not much to do with it at the moment.

It is just a Temperature Sensor.
Is it Possible to connect it to Zigbee without an Aqara Hub?

Or will there be improvements to the Matter functionality in the future?

Thanks in Advance

Is it? The Aqara W100 via Matter is a temperature and humidity sensor plus it has three buttons, each one with single, double and long press that you can use for automations.

Well yes, that’s true - but the real functionality of it (2nd sensor display and thermostate control) is not there as far as I can see.

It’s not there via Matter, fortunately Aqara made the difference in features clear in their website.

You should be able to use the device via Zigbee and use the other features, a quick search reveals there are even blueprints for it to display external sensors.

Ohh! But how do you get it to zigbee Mode? I dont have the Aqara app or bridge

Install it? It’s free and you don’t need the Aqara hub for it to change to zigbee mode.

I’m hoping to use the w100 to control a generic thermostat within home assistant - without an aqara hub. I would like it to display both the current temperature and the set temperature. I have no need for monitoring a second zone.

I appreciate I’ll need to pair via zigbee to have any chance at this. Will it be able to display the set temperature is I’m not using an aqara hub please?

Same here. I have integrated it into HA via matter. I have temperature and humidity sensor data and three buttons (I guess double click or hold could be realized in HA).
How to realize now to use it with Eve Thermo to control my heating?
The buttons to set a target temperature and the thermostat to follow the temperature from the w100.
