Aqara Water Leak Sensors: Doesn't change status

Hi there,

I have an Aqara Water Leak Sensor (lumi.sensor_wleak.aq1) connected via Conbee II.
Everytime the sensors gets wet, the moisture status in HA doesn’t change back to dry in a timely manner, if the device gets dry again. Sometimes it takes hours to days and I don’t know how to force HA to change the status.

Anyone with the same issue?

I have two of these and they respond to dryness quite quickly.

At the risk of a daft question, is your sensor definitely dry?

I have found that even a slight dampness on the bathroom floor can be enough to cause a wet status - especially with the metal screws extended.

The sensor is definitely dry. Currently it is lying on a non-conductive surface. It even doesn’t matter if I extend the detection screws via wire. Is it possible to force HA to reset the status?

I don’t think this would be practical.

Have you tried resetting and re-pairing it - close to your coordinator and then testing it?

Is it maybe a connection or interference issue?

It may sound daft but try rinsing it and drying with a towel. I needed to do this when mine wouldn’t change back after being out of water for a while. I supposed there was a conductive deposit on the surface.

Thanks for the hint. This seems to solve the problem. I re-tested it several times and status changed immediately from wet to dry and vice versa. Hopefully it stays that way  Thanks so far!

Funnily enough I’m having the same issue with an aeotec pro water sensor. It occasionally gets stuck in dry mode even though it’s wet. Had to do a hard reset and dry it out and then it was fine.
Its done this twice and really doesn’t fill me with confidence.

As a bonus item, I find that attaching strings of (uncoated) paper clips to the Aqara sensor increases the coverage in a very useful way.

@templeton_nash Interesting, would you please share a photo, or describe “attaching strings of (uncoated) paper clips” ?

same issue here, these sensors are useless, if you can’t trust them, they are simply useless.
