Aquaponics Greenhouse Control Box, Automations, Alarm notifications

This project started out using other platforms to program but Home Assistant turned out to be the best with all of the support and examples available here. I didnt see anything like this already on here so I figured I would give back to help others out that have a similar project.

I am in the process of building a 16’x30’ Hoop Aquaponics Greenhouse and needed a way to Automate the process so I turned to the Raspberry Pi 3 using a 6 channel relay board to control all 120v components. I am using a DHT22 Temperature - Humidity sensor and a DS18B20 waterproof temp sensor. I needed a way to allow connectivity to internet so I can receive alarm messages and to periodically check on it when away so I used a Cell phone that I already had on my plan to broadcast wifi to the pi. I built a waterproof box ($11 Home Depot) to contain the Phone, Pi, and relay board. The phone is a Samsung s7 and doubles as a dashboard for home assistant and also login with VNC to make changes. The Pi3 has a Pi-Ezconnect hat made by alchemy power. The Pi and relay board is mounted to a piece of clear acrylic thats bolted to the enclosure. I made a cut in the lid to mount the phone case in and glued in with e6000. I will be using cable glands with the wiring to keep things waterproof.

I have run these configurations and automations for several weeks while emulating a changing environment to make sure all works well before putting into use. I have included some instruction within the yaml files. Please let me know if you see anything that needs changing, and let me know if I was able to help. I will be adding more info about this project as it develops.

I couldn’t post the yaml files or pictures due to being new, so I have them shared from my google drive with links below
