Are there alternatives to the Vue 3 Energy Monitor for tracking multiple circuits?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a solution to monitor each individual circuit in the consumer unit in our house. I’ve been looking at the Vue 3 Energy Monitor which can monitor up to 16 circuits, but I was wondering if anyone has used anything else that they would recommend?

@matt9, Several things to consider… One is Gen 3 has ability to monitor 16 circuits not counting the 100A mains. and then the price $200. Sense Monitors the the mains and uses AI to attempt figuring the remainder. Another current monitor is Shelly, and it cost about $60 for one device capable of 2 circuits each. And of course you could save a few bucks with Gen 2. Here are a few links that may help you decide:

I would be happy to answer questions of each (above) as I have experience with each and I am a bit biased toward the Gen3 because of value and capability to connect either by WiFi or EtherNet. (I also have specs and documentation available if it would help.

Thanks @007DJ, I think I’m going to wait for the DIN rail mount to come out for the Gen 3 and buy one of those. I’ve currently got the Shelly with the two sensors monitoring my solar production and my total consumption from the grid, which combined with a few smart plugs gives me a reasonable view of my energy usage breakdown, but as the consumer unit / fuse board in our house needs replacing, I thought I’d treat myself to an energy monitor upgrade at the same time :slightly_smiling_face:.
