I also tried the β€˜ArgonOne Active Linear Cooling - Classic’ addon but got this error:

I’ve noticed in the meantime that the addon doesn’t run correctly after restarting Hassio.

The temperature is displayed correctly in the log, but the fan runs continuously even if the log shows a temperature below the low range.

An addon restart solves the problem and then the fan runs as set.

Is there a solution to the problem?

thanks

Here also the same issue: fan runs continously

Probably needs a timeout on the networking for reporting fan speed.

Is there are way that I can run an older version of the addon before this became an issue? I don’t like to have the fan running 100% all of the time.

I added a detection for the Argon One Neo in version 29a. I also noticed it would always use the last i2c device and corrected that. Please update and see if this works for you.

It is available in the Argon One repository now. It will be available in the general Addons repository at 00:00EST.

is this a Neo? I guess we can acknowledge that it’s on 1b, but send commands to 1a?

someone with a Neo, please do this.

  1. install SSH & Terminal addonimage

  2. disable protection mode, and start addon.

  3. docker container ls to find the container id

  4. docker exec -it <container id> bashimage

I need the results of these commands

i2cset -y 1 0x01a 0x01
i2cset -y 1 0x01a 0xEE
i2cset -y 1 0x01b 0xEE
i2cset -y 1 0x01b 0x00

the 0xEE sets the fan to a high speed. 0x00 sets the fan to off.

on mine I communicate with the β€œ1a” device, I expect on yours, you’d communicate with the β€œ1b” device. Please confirm this and I’ll make changes.

Hi,
Thanks for the info.
Are you asking if I have an Argon NEO case?
The answer is no.
The Rpi4 came with a kit from CanaKit:

I bought the Argon recently to keep it cooler, it’s from Amazon:

I had to work the case for fitting but it go in.

If it wasn’t clear from my previous post, I did get the Argon Addon working with v28.
However, after upgrading to 29a I noticed that the addon is not starting and that’s the error log that I attached.
I restored back to the v28, but now it still gives the same error and not working.

I am using the ArgonOne Active Linear Cooling, because the other one did not work.
In the Addon there is no Protection Mode button:

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I didn’t get long to run these commands since the addon only runs for a few seconds and then the container is removed but here is what I got:

root@2ad4c73a-argon-one-temp-linear:/data$ i2cset -y 1 0x01a 0x01
root@2ad4c73a-argon-one-temp-linear:/data$ i2cset -y 1 0x01a 0xEE
root@2ad4c73a-argon-one-temp-linear:/data$ i2cset -y 1 0x01b 0xEE
Error: Write failed
root@2ad4c73a-argon-one-temp-linear:/data$ i2cset -y 1 0x01b 0x00
Error: Write failed

I seem to remember it was communicating on 1a before so not sure why it shows 1b in the addon logs. I have been using Argon Neo for most of this year with the latest version of the addon and it has worked without any issues.

Thanks. I’m pushing changes out now. It should work with Version 29b. I think the next window for release to Addons repository is in about 2 hours. It’s available immediately in Argon One repository.

Version 29c should correct it. I noticed the 1b was actually off by one spot. It was in the 1a slot instead of 1b. Lets try that again. Argon One repo- available now, Addons repo- 4 hours.

That seem to solve the issue!
Thank you so much for your effort!
