Hi Everyone,
I think i may have missed something, but enabling arlo platform seems to pull a lot of information (battery, signal strength, last active) - however i was hoping to use them as basic binary_sensors for motion.
I also have a wink hub (created a separate account for Wink and HA - both admins on arlo account)
However HA isnt pulling either the arlo motion sensors from wink OR motion triggered sensor from arlo?
#confused
(i would have thought one of the monitored_conditions would have been motion?)
Agree with you on this one. I’m looking for this as well, so will monitor and share any solution I find. The only other interim option I’ve thought of trying is to trigger when the the last active data changes, but I expect there will be a delay, since it is polling the arlo service online for changes.
The best solution I have found so far for using Arlo cameras for motion detection is to use IFTTT/Stringify to set a binary switch in Home Assistant when it detects motion. Works almost instantly at least, but drains the camera batteries pretty quickly since it detects motion often when home.
I’m going to replace this with cheap Xiaomi motion sensors, and only use the Arlo cameras for the alarm as soon as the sensors arrive.

I’ll try this out. I hate buying more and more things with motion sensors just because I can’t integrate and use the built in sensors I have! And its s shame to have to rely on a cloud service for this. I already have motion sensors on alarm system, but they’re not able to integrate (yet, looking for ways to hack in), and I have motion sensors with ecobee for indoors, along with two stand alone sensors which don’t integrate with HA, but do with HomeKit (Elgato Eve and Fibaro Motion-not the zwave model), which work well. Two of my external Arlos are the newer Pro 2 models and are plugged in so don’t have battery issues, and I get the extra features activated.
