I am testing Assist in text mode (no voice assistant) and although i can get the lights to turn on and off, when I tried another intent from the Assist documentation (“What is the weather”) i get the ‘Sorry, I couldnt understand that’ message.
I did check this in the developers tools sentence parser and it appears to resolve to the correct intent.
Have you exposed a weather entity to Assist?

I didnt realise we had to explicitly expose entiites ti assist (specially built in ones).
Any idea’s why my lights were working without having been explicitly exposed?.
My understanding is that, generally, entities that have builtin intents are exposed by default. However, I haven’t seen a definitive list to confirm that. Weather is a bit of an outlier. This is probably because it is common for users to have multiple weather integrations and there isn’t an inherent way to discriminate which one should be used for a basic sentence.
