Hi,
according to the documentation (Assist on Android - Home Assistant ) I should be able to add an android widget on my phone to start assist.
I do not have any “Assist” widget under “Home assistant” list, I just have:
service call
entity state
template
media player
picture
I run companion app v 2024.7.3-full on OnePlus 10T Android 14
How can I add the Assist widget?
Make sure to enable adding shortcuts to the launcher.

I already use shortcuts to the launcher. But how this is related to the assist widget?
Because it’s an actual shortcut displayed in the widget picker. Some launchers restrict that so you need to open it up in settings.

Understood, thank you.
How can I set it up from the app settings? Do you have any tips?

I have the same problem on a Xiaomi 13T (Android 14), Samsung Galaxy A34 (Android 15) and Redmi Pad Pro (Android 15), trying different launchers (Smart Launcher, Xiaomi System Launcher).
In all cases I am offered the same 5 widgets (Camera, Enity state, Media Player, Service button, Template ).
Even the HA Documentation does not mention Assist!
Any idea?
Yes, I have seen this.- Thanks!
The problem is that among the HA widgets there is NO Assist widget.
Even if I open the companion app, go to Settings → Companion App → Widgets, there is no Assust Widget.
What am I missing?
some launchers may not show it try checking your device settings maybe to see if some widget types are hidden
Thanks!
3 phones, 2 launchers having the same behavour,
even inside the Companion App the widget is not visible …
There must be some (other) reason
Found it:
with my phones and launchers, the Assist Widget shows up under Shortcuts!
