Associate ZWave switches with lights?

Newbie questions here!

I have an Aeotec Z-Wave Z-Stick Gen5. I’m in an apartment, so I ordered a couple battery-powered ZWave switches to test out: a GOCONTROL WA00Z-1 and a Cooper RF9500AW.

I successfully added both to the ZWave network – Open ZWave Control Panel sees them – but HASS does not see any ZWave switch entities. Shouldn’t it?

I am also at a loss as to how to associate switches with lights. I associated the RF9500AW first, and without any other setup it controls my one existing ZWave light. But I have ordered more lights, and the buttons on the WA00Z-1 don’t do anything when I hit them. But then I haven’t configured anything, so how do I control what happens when I hit a button on a ZWave switch? There doesn’t appear to be a GUI in HASS to do this, and I’ve been poking at OZCP, but it’s pretty obtuse and undocumented.
I can change the group of my light bulb in OZCP, but how do I tell a switch to control a different group? The “group” dialog in OZCP disappears when I select a switch.

Got it, although HASS still doesn’t see them. Things that helped:

  • Pressing buttons on the switches to make sure they are awake
  • Removing them from the network then using OZCP to readd them instead of the physical control
  • Restarting OZCPClicking Save and Submit a lot
  • Using OZCP’s Send Node Information functions
  • With the switch selected, using the Group function to put the bulb(s) in with it
  • For the WA00Z-1, changing to Group 2 then grouping it with the bulb(s). The manual even says one tap controls group 2, two taps controls group 3.

sorry I didn’t see this Alucard till now, I use GE 12722 switches.
They just always show up as a switch, then I grab the ID from the HA website and customize them with icons.
Your’s didn’t show up at all after pairing them with the Aeotec?

Correct, no switch entities are shown in HASS. What are yours named? Perhaps because they are battery powered HASS doesn’t support them?

I did manage to associate them on the Z-Wave level, after much gnashing of teeth.
