Asus Tinker Edge T (Google Coral) + Home Assistant + Frigate

Hi!
I have seen topics on the tinkerboard S and how it works well with hassio. I know there are 2GB RAM and 16GB emmc whereas on the tinkerboard edge T, there is only 1GB RAM and 8GB emmc. Will it be enough to run Home Assistant and analysis on three security cameras?
If not, can i keep my Rpi4 for Home Assistant and use the tinkerboard T for frigate only? If so, how will it communicate to the Rpi4?
Thanks!!

I would use Separately based on your hardware

Frigate is built to run as standalone
Even addon is separate server (docker container). You will have no issue

So basically I would have:

  • Tinkerboard edge T running frigate on hassio and getting rtsp video stream from local network
  • Rpi 4 running my current hassio

But how would both devices communicate? At least, I would like to have on my current hassio a compressed video stream and some photos pushed to telegram notification when motion is detected.

No

I not sure tinkerboard work with frigate but i know RPI4 does. You can try and if not just use the RPI4

HASSIO on tinkerboard or RPI4

Frigate in docker or proxmox on RPI4 or tinkerboad

Uses frigate integration (not the addon) to connect them.

lastest beta version frigate use go2rtc and us blazing fast

The thing is that I do not have a Google Coral USB. I think there is a Coral accelerator embedded in a tinker edge T, that is why I was thinking of using it this way!

Trying never hurt. Worst case you give up and find a working solution. Best case is it works without issue

What about Google’s Coral Dev Board? It seems powerful enough, but I does not know if that SoC NXP’s iMX 8M will be compatible for Hassio.
