At a Loss with HA Green that’s supposed to be easy to use

I purchased the Home Assistant green after reading that it was ready to use right out of the box. It is up and running, but neither the Apple app, homeassistant.local:8123, or homeassistant:8123 can connect to the device. The app gives the error 1004 when I try to connect manually since it doesn’t connect automatically. My browser on the other hand just says it cannot reach the address. I have also plugged the device into my TV via HDMI to find its IP address, but connecting to it through the browser that way also does not work.

I am on my iPhone, and I turned off private relay and the private Wi-Fi address settings, as someone here suggested, but that also has not helped. I have also tried using another browser, but that also does not work.

I am at a loss! Everybody on the online forums talks about their more complicated set ups, but this is just a Home Assistant green and should be easy to use. Can someone help me?

Are you putting the port on the end of the IP address when you try to log in?. ie: 192.168.xxx.xxx:8123

What was the full ip info (including subnet mask)

What is the IP address and subnet mask of your pc/mac/etc?

I would try to do the following steps:

  • Find the IP address, if you haven’t already (router interface is one way)
  • Ping HA with the address
  • If this works try to access the HA observer through http://[home-assistant-ip]:4357
    What does it say?

Have you rebooted the device?
When you plugged it in your TV - were there any error messages?
