August Lock appearing as Switch in HomeKit

Hi all!

Have a bit of an odd one here. I just integrated an August Smart Lock (Smart Lock Pro Gen 3 to be specific). It’s connected via the August WiFi Bridge and connected to Home Assistant through the auto-detected August integration. The lock entity is generated in the lock domain, the 2 sensor entities (battery status and last operator) are generated in the sensor domain, and the wake button is generated in the button domain. The sensors, wake button, and lock are all working as expected within Home Assistant.

However, when I open the Home app on my iPhone, the lock accessory appears as a switch. When I look at the accessory details in the Home app, I see the battery status and all details, and it appears that the ‘switch’ accessory is linking to the wake button rather than the lock entity itself. So as of right now I can only operate the lock from within Home Assistant, not from within the Home app. I considered using a template lock to pass to the Home app, but that seems like a lot of work for something that should work out of the box and does work in every aspect except this.

I’ve confirmed that my homekit bridge integration is configured in bridge mode and set to allow/pass the locks domain. I really appreciate any assistance anyone is able to provide in getting this working. I’m hitting my head against a wall here.

Thanks in advance!

Having the same issue! Not sure how to get the Lock accessible in Homekit

Hey! I got this working and I never updated this thread so thank you for the reminder!

I ended up having to add a separate HomeKit Bridge in Home Assistant setup with accessory as the HomeKit Mode and include as the Inclusion Mode. I only have Lock selected in the Domains to include, then just select the lock device you’re trying to share with the Apple Home app (I only have 1 lock so I only have the one option listed). See screenshots below and keep in mind that you’ll want to exclude your lock from any other Bridges you already have setup in Home Assistant.

Feel free to DM me if you would like any additional info on how I have this setup!
