Wow, thanks so much jason, this is by far the best comparison of the two options I have encountered online. I’ll see if I can catch my sparky (can be like finding gold) to ask him about modifying the LED on the 40MLEDW
Sad to hear about the reliability issues. For the sponginess, I noticed a post on Whirlpool where the user claimed to have used a 3dprinted shim to improve the tactile feel, could be worth a crack if you have access to a 3d printer (Edit: Or if you are keen to send over the dimensions I am happy to print one and post it to you)
Not really. but as far as most devices they are the same, as they are hardwired. The switch is on then the lights on.
But the ‘light’ is the state on the relay that turns the light off or on. An entity in HA
The switch is the state on the button on the wall plate. Is it being pressed, released. An sensor in HA
For home automation, having access to both, would let you have more control. And the addition entity of the backlight led around the button. The button could control other things, and even not associated to the relay.
My gripe, is every smart switch you buy, the button is just hard wire to toggle the state of the relay, and the state of the back light led. Sure you want this as default behavour, but it would be nice to take advantage of all the hardware.
Say a long press to turn the whole room off, not just the light connected to the relay.
Have the backlight on, when the light is off, so you can find it in the dark.
Ignore the relay completely, and use the button to control a different light (as 2 way control (without wires)) and the backlight reflect the state of this other light.
Heads up to Aussies trying to get Delta Grid Connect Fan switch speeds (and light) working correctly, you need to use Tuya Local and use the settings below.
Set the device up as a fan
ID 1 = (value: False)
Fan Speed Control Dps = 3(value: 1)
Minimum Fan Speed Integer = 1
Maximum Fan Speed Integer = 3
DP Value Type = str
Hit submit then add the light (make sure you untick the box to add another)
ID = 9(Value: False)
To get an Arlec Grid Connect Pedestal fan working in Australia, I used the following settings to get fan speeds and oscillation working with Tuya Local.
Set the device up as a fan
ID 1 = (value: False)
Fan Speed Control Dps = 3(value: 1)
Fan Oscillation Control Dps = 5(value: False)
Minimum Fan Speed Integer = 1
Maximum Fan Speed Integer = 3
DP Value Type = int
Hi, for those who live in Australia, do you know of a company that works with home automation installed in homes with Home Assistant?
Another question, what type of electrical license do I have to obtain in Australia to be able to work with: physical wireless light switches, wireless wall socket etc, and at which school would I appreciate your help?
Was at the home show today and grid connect has a major display of all there bits and pieces. Attached is a photo of an up and coming product. Looks like an ns panel pro. Does two relay switches and is all touch screen.
No real details at this stage hope to be on sale later this year.
I’m trying to get this going as well now
I got the fan working perfectly, but no light
Now after another reconfig trying to fix the light, I have no light and no fan speed
Thanks for sharing! Let me know how you go. I think I need to update to get the option to type in values, this always scares me with braking changes now, and the wife isn’t happy when I tell her, oh sorry that doesn’t work now because I updated…
