On a regular base I do install Home Assistant (Home Assistant Operating System) from scratch. This works very well but I wonder if there is also a way to automate the installation of my “standard” add-ons such as SSH, MariaDB, Node-RED, MQTT.
So far I have not been able to find information on this topic.
Any hints or advice if this is possible and if yes, how to do it/where to find further information?
Thanks,
Thomas
Why are you installing Home Assistant so often that this is a thing for you?
You could make a backup of a generic stock-standard install, & use that.
Thanks but restoring a backup is not what I am looking for.
Then what are you talking about? I wasn’t talking about restoring a backup (instead, a preconfigured image) but rather using it for fresh installs with your “standard add-ons such as SSH, MariaDB, Node-RED, MQTT" preinstalled (then you just have to run updates). but I think it would take the same amount of time since it doesn’t take long to install any of those things.
But I still don’t understand why you are “installing Home Assistant so often that this is a thing for you?” Have you set up a business installing Home Assistant for people?
If you want to make it a feature request (because I don’t think there currently is anything like that), you sort of need to explain the use case scenario.
Looks like you fully understand what I am looking for and you also gave me the answer (“because I don’t think there currently is anything like that.”)
I just want to figure out if I missed anything when locking for a way to script (automate) installing home-assistant.
Like the idea setting up a business installing Home Assistant for other people but this is definitely not my use case.
Home Assistant is one of the best platforms ever seen and it’s developing fast.
To keep my installations up-to-date, updates need to be applied regularly and maintaining install images could end up in quiet some effort.
Currently I am running 3 HA prod instances including a nabucasa subscription and 6 test instances on 2 blues, 1 green, 4 RPi, and 2 Hyper-Vs.
Therefore I have the need to install HA from scratch from time to time on my test systems.
