Hello All,
I’m trying to figure out the best setup for my situation and even after reading through lots of old posts, I’m still uncertain.
My setup is the following:
- The apartment has house-level heating that I can turn on/off (dry contact wire) – I installed a smart thermostat (Tuya ZWT100) that I can control via Zigbee in HA
- I have outfitted most of the radiators with a smart TRV that I can also control via Zigbee in HA (I believe these also work in a binary mode i.e. valve is either fully opened or fully closed)
- I have thermometers in all of the rooms, also available in HA
I can program schedules on bioth the thermostat and also the TRVs, but there are 2 issues with this setup:
- Unless the thermostat is in heating mode, the radiators do not receive heat, no matter what the TRV does
- The thermometers in the thermostat and the TRV are very inaccurate
Now I assume I can fix point 2 with using Better Thermostat and using the external thermometers, but what is a solid way of sending heat to the TRVs in case they require? Should I simply create an automation that sets the target temperature of the central thermostat to an arbitrary high value in case any of the TRVs are in heating mode and sets it to an arbitrary low value in case they are done with the heating?
