Hello,

A couple of newmie automator questions:

  • Does HA have any debug tools for automations?
  • How to understand that an automation has fired? Are there any logs?
  • Will an automation fire if state is intentionally changed through Developer Tools → Stats
  • Having defined new automation through HA UI, does HA have to be restarted? Does new automation start immediately?

  • Yes, there is a trace tool in automations to see how the flow was evaluated and what was run
  • See number 1
  • Yes, if you are triggering on a state change
  • If you created automations directly using the UI then it’s immediate, if you edited the YAML file you will need to go to Configuration → Server Controls and restart automation
