Automation to change thermostat fan mode from Auto to On

I have a Honeywell thermostat which controls my air conditioner. The HA integration works great, and I’m able to change the Fan mode between “On” and “Auto” from within HA.

Now I’d like to automate this. Typically I leave the fan on “Auto,” but when it’s a lot warmer upstairs than downstairs, I’d like to automate switching it to be “On” all the time, to circulate the cooler downstairs air through the house even when it’s not in cooling mode.

I don’t really even know where to begin. Is there an Action which changes the Fan mode?

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I believe you are looking for this service call: climate.set_fan_mode

Yes, that looks like it, thanks!!

The options on the thermostat card in Lovelace are only “Auto” and “On.” So I assume those are what I’d send to the Climate service.

I should be able to play with this in Developer Tools / Services and verify.

You’d want to check developer tools > states for the actual fan modes to use (probably auto and 'on'). Everything is case sensitive.
