Hi,
I want to create automation to switch smart plugs on or off based on negative values.
How do Above and Below actually work?
Say the input is currently -100, if it goes to -200 I want to trigger an action to switch a plug on.
Is this considered an Above or Below? Is -200 considered to be greater than -100 or less than?
Mathematically its Less but the figure is Greater
Essentially it’s for solar diversion to a battery charger. My setup is entirely Diy so I don’t have clever controllers to do it, hence coming to HA. If my smart meter (it’s Octopus, I’ve got the integration working) says I’m exporting, which is received as a negative value, I want to turn the battery charger on, as long as the negative is greater than the fixed power consumption of the charger, ie there’s sufficient excess production that it can be fed into the battery without requiring grid energy to power the charger
