Automation: When press Button on TV Remote control, activate Scene

I want to create an automation that activates a HUE scene when I press a specific button on the remote. Is that possible? I know how to send button commands to the TV but I don’t know how to get the status?

Automation:

  1. when RED button pressed
  2. Activate the Hue scene

You could set up an IR receiver with an ESP to read the button presses.
I don’t have such a TV so I can’t comment on the integration route
