Automations Defaulting to OFF

When I am creating new automations they are now getting defaulted to Off which is not what I want. I know there is a way to set the initial state to On but I would probably have to go back and do this for my current automatons. Just not sure why all of a sudden this is happening. It seems like if I create an automation it would default to on unless i set the initial state to Off. Is there something I am missing here. Before I have had no problem with this.

As mentioned in the docs you have to set that initial state. If you don’t, Home Assistant will restore the last state, except when you restart Home Assistant too often/too quickly at which point it’ll turn off all automations that don’t have an initial state set.

I don’t set the initial state true as I want the state remembered form before a restart. I’ve seen this happen (all automations off on restart) once in many, many restarts. There’s nothing in that document you linked to that mentions:
