Baby Monitor - Xiaomi Dafang + Fang Hacks + Synology + HA + Google Home Mini

Hi all,

Trying to work out if I could build a baby monitor (audio only at this stage) using a combination of:

  1. Xiaomi Dafang (hacked)
  2. Synology Surveillance Station (if needed)
  3. Home Assistant
  4. Google Home Mini

Essentially what I want is for the Google Home Mini to play an audio livestream in the event that motion (in this case audio above a certain level).

Is this possible, or am I wasting my time???

Bump, anyone out there that might be able to assist?? Thanks!

Honestly not worth your time. I have the Wyze cam (simliar/rebranded version of the Dafang) running the hack and 1) the RTSP stream is flakey/cuts out and 2) I’m not sure there’s a way to get the stream to the Google Home mini.

You’re better off just buying a cheap audio monitor. They’re only $20-30 and you’d save yourself a ton of headache.

Thanks for the reply, that was the reply I was expecting but not hoping for  Appreciate the feedback, you are probably right! Will have to find another use for the Dafang then!

No problem. I DO use one as a secondary monitor so I can remote view kiddo, but it’s just that, secondary.
