Back Up 3G/4G Connection

Has anybody implemented a backup internet connection?

My ideal would be…

Fibre Goes Down > 3G/4G Kicks In > Fibre Back Online > 3G/4G Turns off

Initial search returned a lots of info, none of which seamed to be as simple as I possibly nievely, think it should be.

I figured someone here may have already done similar?

I just posted about that on UK 4G for network you must be a Virgin customer too…??

I am indeed! The service used to be brilliant. I let slide the car crash of the “superhub 3” but now outages! They haven’t as yet caused me problems but I’m sure as hell they will in the future!

I’m still getting amazing speeds just not consistently hence the backup rather than replacement. If I do find a solution ill let you know.

I typically get 50 MBs but sometimes drops as low as 2-3 MBs, whilst I reliably get 50 MBs on my iPhone on EE… Keep us posted

I do dual wan with one company I do work for.

Using pfsense as the firewall/router. Probably a more networking setup then an HA one.

Cradlepoint has some all in one 4g - ethernet routers as well.

I like the idea of calling my place a ‘command centre’… Customer Connect

Probably more affordable https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-RT-AC51U-Dual-Band-Wireless-Multifunctional/dp/B00XUDWDZE/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1493129377&sr=8-6&keywords=3g+router

I think the deciding factor is whether port forwarding is possible with mobile data, and a quick browse suggests this is not possible…

I’ve done what you’re describing using a MikroTik RB951Ui-2HnD. Since they come with their own OS I don’t think it’s of any help if you don’t have a MikroTik router.
