Backup and restore include everything?

Hello, I’m new to HA, I bought a Raspberry Pi 5 and installed HA, everything is running perfectly. I’m using a Sandisk Extreme Pro 64Gb SSD (new).

I have two questions:

  1. Does the backup file recover my HA installation 100%? In other words, if my Raspberry fails or the SSD fails, I can just install again and restore the backup and I will have everything back? Automations, devices, settings, etc., or am I missing something?

  2. I have Home Assistant Cloud, if I reinstall HA, will I have any problems activating HA Cloud on the “new” Raspberry? I say this because I know some software whose license is linked to the device.

  1. using full backup… Yes. Everything
  2. no you’ll be fine.

Just make sure the old one is off before you start the replacement so they’re not both up at the same time.

Welcome! If you haven’t discovered it yet, this is one of the most popular and useful additions to consider. It automatically takes the HA backup and uploads it to a google drive, for even better protection.
