  1. Instead of using some-id.tar, simply use date-hour-minute-sec.tar to be able to view the creation timestamp of the backup on a different system.

  2. Add an option to skip encryption. I do not need encryption and I’d like to keep it simple without a key somewhere on a different system. I’m already invaded with passwords/keys/whatever.

Remember that your system might be inaccessible when you really need a backup.
