Balcony Battery Storage with Local API

I am looking into buying a battery station for my balcony solar system. I have found a lot of solutions that have a lot of problems, one of the biggest one being that the manufactures just love locking you into their cloud and their eco system…

Does anyone know a brand that allows you to access the API from from within home assistant without going through their cloud?
I also want to be able to control the power output of the battery.

Manufatures I have looked at:

  • Anker: cloud lock-in, also with the HA integration you cannot control the power output I believe?
  • EcoFlow: same story
  • Zendure: not sure, but you need to use their inverter (I already have one)
  • SunLit: no integration whatsoever, need to use their app
  • Marstek: local API possible, but you cannot control the power output I think
  • Growatt: no idea, could not find anything regarding a HA integration
  • Hoymiles: no idea whether it has a local API

Does anyone have more information? What kind of batteries are you using with HA?

I‘m in the exact same boat. Just recently identified Marstek as a potential candidate. Did You by chance clarify on Your doubt? (If output can be controlled)

Tracking this post as I’m also interested. I haven’t bought any hardware yet.

RS485 output? They are common on PV systems and can quite easily be connected through esphome.

Any developer here that wants to work on the new local API for marstek devices?

@BentiGorlich I am not sure if you made further progress on this. I am also looking into balcony battery solar systems. One that looks promising with a HA API is the Solarkon One. It seems there is a HA integration here: GitHub - solakon-de/solakon-one-homeassistant

I have not tried this myself, still researching.
