Battery Motion & Door Sensors Dropping Off Zigbee Network (CentraLite 3326-L, 3320-L)

Running latest everything (core-2021.4.6, supervisor-2021.04.0) - some of my motion and door sensors are dropping off the Zigbee network, seemingly at random. Pulling the battery and reinserting fixes the condition and the sensors come back online.

Here’s the strange part - the ZHA intregation is still showing the sensors as “seen”, but they are no longer reporting any values (battery level, temperature, occupancy/presence/motion).

The ZHA Zigbee visualization shows the sensor not being connected to anything upstream

Not sure how to best troubleshoot the root cause. There are plenty of mains powered devices in the same room as these sensors, and the mesh appears strong. Signal strength and quality appear to not be an issue.

Would greatly appreciate suggestions from the HA braintrust as to next steps before I tear out the little hair I have left trying to resolve this. Thanks!

Hi,

I had some battery temp sensors that kept dropping off so I just un-paired them and then when I re-paired them I held them next to the closest router.

I haven’t had any issues since but I use Z2M so your problem may be something else but worth a shot.

Simon

I’m having a similar issue with an Xfinity XHS2-UE contact sensor. This is a new install with only two Zigbee devices at the moment. I went back and forth between ZHA and Z2M and finally settled on Z2M with a SONOFF Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus V2.

I am wondering if the switching back and forth has caused some kind of corruption. I wasn’t entirely clear on how to disable ZHA while using this coordinator, so I disabled the integration.

Like the OP mentions, the contact sensor works for a while, and reports battery percentage and everything. Then after an hour or so, stops responding. It still shows up in the Z2M list, but requires power cycle to start reporting again. Both the sensor and a Sylvania RGB bulb are within 8-10 feet of the coordinator which is plugged in using a USB extension.

I’d like to continue using these sensors since I have a bunch from an existing Hubitat hub. I don’t know if that might be causing issues, but I could power it down to test. The sensor in question was never registered to the Hubitat hub before.

Hope it’s okay that I bumped this thread.
