Recently I’ve been looking to ‘smart up’ my old rbm thermostat (rbm hp). I only have 2 wires coming out of the wall.
I was hoping to use a Z-wave (battery powered) thermostat that uses 868.42MHz, but was unable to find any working with the European frequency. GoControl does have the TBZ48 but I believe it only works using 908.42MHz freq.
Can anyone suggest an alternative, even if not using z-wave?
Will be used in HA (rPi) using either a zooz zwave pen or zigbee cc2531.
I will use a wifi or zwave switch If I was you, controlled by that thermostat thru HA. Then you even can get rid of that cable and put the switch near your heater.
I have 2 wires coming down, a live and neutral. My gas supplier in the UK provided a Nest Thermostat E which I have been using for approx. 2 years. It has 2 AA batteries behind the cover which is easily removable (opening a remote battery compartment is the same level of difficulty). It then has a wireless thermostat.
I must say, I do not like the way it is cloud based etc, but it has worked well for me. Also, when my WiFi was down I figured out I could set the heating to on/off by pressing the big middle button. Rather easy, at least
