It would be great to have the android assistant give a beep when it’s ready for speech input. If you trigger it on the phone directly you will see on the screen when it’s ready, but when you use the assistant feature on many earbuds you don’t.
My earbuds use a long press to trigger the assistant, and then it takes a while for it to actually open and start listening. When I’m walking outside with the phone in my pocket I have no idea when I should start talking. So I’m often too early or too late. Because sometimes it takes a bit longer for the app to open, or the gesture is not recognised properly and I’m talking without the assistant listening at all. A beep (just like the home assistant voice preview does) would solve that issue. It would also bring the assist experience more in line with the voice preview box.
I notice this because I use it a lot more now that I’ve linked it to my local LLM. I use it not only for Home Assistant actions but also for LLM questions. So I have more use for it when outside walking around.
It would be great if this beep could be turned on/off in settings of course.
