Best hardware to run HA

I have been using HA on raspberry pi since almost 3 years at my home and also at my cotage. HA is great. But i have trouble with the hardware, as almost twice a year, the microsd cards are stopping to work, need to replace them with a new ones. So each time, i have to rebuild the system. Even if i do have backups, it takes times.

So i’m wondering on what type of hardware you are running HA ? I don’t want to use a full computer to do that, but something that it’s more resistant over time. I also want to activate historical data using influxdb and grafana, but i’m afraid that it’s gonna kill a lot faster my microsd card.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions !

Regarding SD cards, are you using a decent brand such as a Samsung EVO?
Also are you using a decent amp rated PSU?

I personally host HA on my NAS drive as it’s on 24/7 anyway.

A lot of people seem to use Intel NUC’s or equivalent, but for me that’s a bit overkill, unless you want to use face detection with Deepstack etc

Another option to look at is the Odroid-XU4 which uses eMMC which is meant to last longer than SD Flash memory, also it’s got more CPU power and 2GB RAM.

I hava tried many brands : Samsung, Kingstor, Lexar, Sandisk … I got defintely different range in lifetimes, but rarely it goes overs 10 - 11 months .

I’m using power supply for raspberry pi : 5v 2.5A.

don’t use a micro sd card. use a usb thumb drive instead

Upgrade to an inexpensive Intel NUC with Celeron, Pentium, or Core i3 processor. You’ll never overload it and it’s small, quiet, and unobtrusive, much like the RPi. But more reliable.
