Best Install Guide - HA/Unifi/vlans

I have searched for past posts on this topic and there were several that give some insights but nothing definitive. I’m certain I’m not the first or last person to be considering HA in such a networked environment (trusted vlan, IoT vlan, NoT vlan (not internet access). I have Sonos speakers on the trusted side as they get really challenging in a separate vlan from my controller (iPhone/ipad) running their app. I have a Synology running PiHole in docker and homebridge running on a standalone raspberry pi. I had played with HA in docker sometime ago and gave up trying to get it working across vlans.

But I’m interested in trying to get it to work again. Would appreciate hearing from anyone with similar setups or pointers to a good guide I can follow. I have been thinking about getting another raspberry pi with dual network interfaces if that simplifies the setup.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks

Not a how to but I have a similar network setup and the main point was enabling multicast between the networks. It’s really the crux of a lot of HA->device communication.

The Hookup youtube channel did a tutorial on doing this with Unifi gear a couple of years ago.

I had originally followed the setup recommended in this video suite from the HookUp. They are really helpful but I still couldn’t get HA to see devices across the vlans and Sonos was a real pain. I gave up trying to move Sonos to the IoT vlan and will keep it in the trusted vlan. But HA remained a challenge, especially in a docker instance on my Synology. Hence why I’m curious if a dual NIC raspberry pi setup will work with less challenges.
