Best installation

Hi. I need help since this a little confused. What is the best way to stop installed home assistant.
At first I installed it in a raspbery but I needed a router and nat ports.
Then install a linux in the cloud and there install the home assistant. For this service I pay 5 dollars.
Home assistant cloud service ended the subscription and this would cost me another 5 dollars.
As far as I understand, this subscription only serves to integrate with google home but I can not host my home assistant there.
The costs of the dollar in my country are too expensive and this leads me to rethink how I do my installation if I subscribe to the home assistant cloud.
What do you recommend me to do? I go back to the raspberry? With the external host I do not have connection problems since I delete the router from my house and the port nats.
I hope it’s clear since I do not speak English. Thank you.

Is NAT port problem/difficult for you?

Local hosting is best unless you connecting many IOT/sensor device that exist outside home.

You can setup RasPi as router and reverse Proxy. I never setup as router before but know it possible with any Linux PC

No, Nat is not the problem. The problem was using a router and I failed when I was not at home. That happened very often. I did not know that I could configure rasp as a router. I’m going to install and test with that. I need to access from outside my house to control some things. thank you

Look at the docs under ‘remote access’ - there are a few pages there on various options.

Thanks…

A good guide for “best installation”
