What is the best way to backup Home Assistant? I now have it backup up to google with Google Drive Backup. But my google account storage is limited. I also set this integration to backup to my synology NAS but the files that are stored are in a strange format (which i am not sure how to use to restore a backup).
Any suggestions on the available (best) options for a back up?
Just use a new separate google account so it gets the full 15GB capacity - each backup should not take more than about 2GB, so 7 backups ought to be plenty - eg 4 last days + 2 weeks + 1 month. If you’re backups are bigger than 2GB, open one up using 7zip (or whatever) to see what’s taking up all the space, and consider excluding it.
