Best outdoor camera hardware for HA?

I’d like to set up some outdoor wifi cameras for use within Home Assistant. I have a bunch of low-cost ESP Home ones inside, but I’d like to start moving outside as well. Requirements:

  • Weatherproof, 4-season, durable.
  • Reasonably high quality photos. 1080p minimum.
  • Battery power would be best, but I’m not averse to wiring them up.
  • Night vision is a nice-to-have but not a must.
  • Full citizen of the Home Assistant “Camera” integration: i.e. snapshots and streaming. This is the big one; there are lots of outdoor cameras out there (Nest, Wyze, Eufy) but they all seem like second-class citizens within the HA ecosystem.

I’d love to hear what others have found that work for them!

I use Foscam almost exclusively.

I say almost because I have one camera from a different company (Besdersec I think). I tried it because it was a bit cheaper and others said it worked with HA. It does work fine with HA but it’s just not as reliable as my Foscam cameras are. It’s needs periodic restarts because it loses wifi connection.

So it’ll be Foscam for me from now on.
