Hey, I have been running Has sos on my esxi server… I have now purchased an synology, gonna play with their VMM , what’s the best way to move my hassos from esxi to vmm ?
I guess:
- update to latest version on esxi
- backup
- install latest version on synology
- restore

I am currently installing Hass on Synology VMM, but the problem now is that it often fails to start and requires multiple restarts to work
I had similar issues, but recently it seems to work fine. Especially since the release with faster startup times I do not see issues anymore, so maybe it was just very sloooooow in starting up?
As a DR strategy for my home I tested another approach; I’m using Synology Active Backup to keep copies all of all my VMs (including HA) and there is an option to restore any of these VMs directly to VMM on Synology NAS. This restores entire installation, so no further steps required to restore configuration, but configuration of any external USB devices that are passthrough to VM (like Zigbee or Zwave sticks). Works perfectly fine afterwards.
