With the new Smartthings PAT rules, I am considering moving all my devices from SmartThings to HA. I run HA on a NUC so I’m looking for recommendations from the community on USB Zwave and Zigbee adapters. I don’t know where to start? Will any work?
I was totally happy with SmartThings- Webcore until they broke it. Then I was happy for years with smartthings -HA marriage until now where I have to auth the PAT every 24 hours.
But for Zigbee I use a SMLIGHT SLZB-06 Zigbee Ethernet PoE USB WiFi Adapter. I am using it as an Ethernet POE adapter. No idea how it works with the other setups.
Both are working flawlessly. I run HAOS and have used it on both ESXi and Proxmox (current setup).
Just bought the same Zooz 800 Series as originally had purchased the Aeotec Smart Hub thinking I could get away with an all-in-one, only to find out that the integration is currently broken. Should be here in a couple days.
Question on the SMLight for zigbee stuff. I don’t have anything zigbee yet so still doing some research and see that the ones with the CC2652 chip are the most highly recommended (at least of POE). However I see that there are a few different versions, is there any major differences between them that one should be concerned about?
e.g. SLZB-06p7 vs. SLZB-06 vs. SLZB-06M (think this one is a different chip) vs. SLZB-06NoPOE (needs external power source outside of POE?)
I’ve been using the “CONBEE II” for a couple of years now. Initially it was plugged into the back of a PI with HA on an SD card. I updated my HA to an external drive, tethered with a USB cable with the CONBEE next to it plugged directly into the back of the PI. This caused interference and signal drop out with Zig-Bee devices. Specifically my Zig-Bee wall plugs. These are about 25-30ft from my back studio in the house to where they are plugged into the front room of my house. Once I tethered the CONBEE and moved it away from the pi and external hard drive the interference disappeared. Now the CONBEE hangs off the back of my desk unseen on a USB cable (Make sure it’s one that does Data). I have about 20+ devices running off of it, from TRADFRI (IKEA) light bulbs to a handful of cheap Zig-Bee wall plugs. They all perform great. Some of the lights are as far as upstairs in a bathroom as well as in my living room where my TV is. They all respond very fast and seamlessly into HA using the Zig-Bee Home Automation (ZHA) application. So, it works well, disappears behind my desk so I don’t see it, and it reacts very fast with my devices. Out of sight, out of mind. Let us know on what you decide. Hope that helps.
