Best way for HA 1 to talk to HA 2?

i installed HA at my mom’s house for water leaks, CO, fire and various sensors. i get telegram if any sensor gets tripped. but sometimes i dont look at my phone. is there any way for her HA to talk to my HA so that i can see my lights blinking or siren go on?
so far, i can only think of via emails. HA mom send email. my HA listens to that email and turn on the siren. is there an even better way?

I agree with @finity

I am using the Remote Homeassistant integration from HACS to link HA in our 2nd home to the HA running in our main home.

I use Node-red for my automations and can trigger alerts on my mobile HA app as well as alerts on my wall mounted tablet when something happens at the remote location.

it looks really complicated. i am trying to find a YT guide on how to do it now. thanks!

what’s the best way to connect to the remote node without port forwarding? image

as of now, i have to manually turn on VPN to connect to the remote site. but that would not work for this Remote add on unless i leave VPN on 24/7

I am using Nabu Casa in both locations. I use the Nabu Casa URL for the secondary home in the setup of in the setup dialog on the primary HA. I also use port 443. (Note that this requires 2 separate Nabu Casa accounts)

The instructions are not detailed, step by step. You do need to fill in some gaps. Not a criticism of the author as it is free and works great.

The access token is generated in the secondary home assistant, under your user account in the right-hand panel on the HA webpage. Copy it down when it is displayed. Once you leave that dialog you cannot display it again.

I’ve done this without Nabu Casa nor port forwarding by running the ZeroTier add-on on both instances. Once both are connected to the ZeroTier network, they can see each other for remote-homeassistant to work.
