Best way to reconnect zigbee sensor / device to deconz

Hi!

Sometimes it happens that a zigbee sensor are disconnected and grayed out in deconz and phoscon.

When this happens I need to remove the sensor from phoscon and pair it again. I am not super happy with this solution. Is it a easier way?

Then if a zigbee extender / active node are disconnected it can be a whole bunch of sensors that stops communicating and end up like disconnected devices. Is it a way to make sensors search for another active zigbee node in the network or rescan/rebuild the whole network? It seams that the sensors are liked glued to one partner.

Thank you in advice!

Which sensors?

Mostly Aqara and IKEA.

This is how it looks like when they are disconnected:

I do not have Ikea sensors but the for the Xiaomi ones you just need to push the button for a coupe of seconds and they reconnect.

Do you have enough mains powered devices? I never encountered devices disconnecting and I have 60+ in my mesh.

I do encounter devices being reported “offline” in HA from time to time, but they usually return within a couple of minutes. I know, that Xiaomi devices tend to stick to the router they were originally paired with and do not re-route.

This would definitely not be acceptable for me.

Yeah Xiaomi devices are picky. But the thing is your mains powered ZigBee router shouldn’t be cut from power anyway, otherwise the whole thing is doomed to fail.

I guess it’s a matter of “reporting”. The devices are unavailable when Zigbee2MQTT cannot ping them in the configured timeout (2min). They do however react instantly when being addressed as a Zigbee group.

Does not work for me :’(

9 main powered devices in a network of about 30 devices.

Can you please explain what you mean with “They do however react instantly when being addressed as a Zigbee group.”?

Zigbee supports grouping of devices at a “native” level. While HA groups are just collections, Zigbee groups (configured via Zigbee2MQTT) act as a single entity.

When switching on a group of (Zigbee) lights as HA group, they switch on individually, randomly - often refered as “popcorn effect”. When switching on a Zigbee group, represented as a single entity in HA all members switch on immediately.

I do have devices in HA groups (like “all outdoor lights”) and some of these devices tend to become unavailable for 1-2 minutes. Those devices are also part of a Zigbee group and they do respond to changes to that Zigbee group (even if being unavailable in HA as individual entity).

Hello, i have the exact same problems. Any easy solution on the issues ?

/Micke

I experienced the same issue, it still happens sometimes. but my mesh got a lot more stable after updating the deconz software and conbee2 firmware. i also enabled source routing in deconz.

some end devices (Aqara) still loose the connection from time to time but a short press on te pair button usually reconnects them.

i’m not sure if this really solves anything, but it’s worth a shot. i haven’t tried this for myself yet
