For the life of me, I can’t get Big Timer to work as I would expect it to. In the example below, I want the upstairs lights to turn off if my wife leaves the house while I’m downstairs at work. Currently, what I have below will trigger the lights to turn off even if the condition before Big Timer is not met (i.e. my wife is still home).
Hi there, I think big timer is not appropriate for this function. It is used to schedule events. As you haven’t said anything about scheduling, the appropraite node will be time-range- switch. This will check if the time is between two points of time and respond accordingly. Its a native node and so you dont have to install it. Just search for time range in the node tab. you can also check out this
I do similar things but use a gate switch with big timer. If your wife is home gate is closed (no messages pass) when she leaves the gate is open and messages pass. You can use multiple things to open or close a gate or multiple gates. Probably not the sexiest solution but big timer is so customisable.
