I have a few Tradfri on/off buttons that are bound to Zigbee light bulb groups, so that the on/off commands work faster than going through HA. But I also want to use a long press to trigger a HA scene. The UI lets me set this up but the results are a bit weird. Now a long press triggers the scene and it also dims the light as long as I hold it, and sometimes these 2 operations conflict, since this light is part of the scene. Is there some way to bind only a short press, leaving the long press available for HA?
I think you need to bind the whole remote to HA and send the command to turn on from there.
I don’t notice much delay going that route.
Yeah that’s the only way I can think of too. Just to be clear about terms, binding is the name of a Zigbee feature that defines a relationship between 2 devices, without HA being involved. ZHA can be used to create such bindings.
Were you able to separate the binded button commands from long holds programmed with automations? I’m looking at testing out a few different aliexpress zigbee scene switches to see if binding can be done with HA automations/ programmed scenes.
