Blink Motion Sensor turn on Hue Light

I’m trying to get a Blink XT 2 camera turn on a Hue light when it detects motion. I have set an automation.

In the automation section I have created this

Trigger type
State

Entity
binary_sensor.blink_drive_camera_motion_detected

From
off

To
on

Action type
Device

Device
Hue outdoor spot 1

Action
Turn on Hue outdoor spot 1

brightness_pct
100

But the light is not coming on. The Execute button turns the light on but when I trigger motion on the camera not light.

Bit stuck on what next to do.

Did you specify any values in the state?

I don’t think that this will work. Blink Motion Detection only works when the System is ‘activated’ and you also need to call the Service blink.blink_update to get a state update. (default scan_interval is 5 min) But it’s not good to do that frequently > https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/blink/

Better solution would be an additional Motion Sensor.

Yes, just realised I’d not pasted that in.

Wow that REALLY limits what can be done with this system. Between that, the lack of Google compatibility, and the TERRIBLE Alexa functionality, I’m really starting to regret getting this system at all.

Hard wiring was not an option though, so, battery operated and on sale at the time? I jumped all over it :-/

Does anyone know of any weatherproof/waterproof outdoor motion sensors that could be used for this purpose? I’m searching online and only finding motion sensing floodlights and such :-/

Edit: I’m thinking for my use case (knowing who is at the door when they ring the dumb doorbell), my best bet might just be to trigger an automation via Casa by asking “Hey Google, who is at the front door?”, having it run this - take a picture, refresh Blink, analyze the picture - automation, and then hopefully five seconds later have it say, based on a logo it sees in the image on the truck - “It’s UPS” or whatever … of course, in five seconds I should already be half way to the door, but whatever, it’s about making it more than anything I guess.
