I have nine cameras in Blue Iris, each configured to send alerts to HA via MQTT when certain objects are detected. They all seem to have been working fine for the past year, but in recent weeks I have noticed that my driveway camera motion entity will sometimes work, and other times it will get stuck on “Detected”, requiring me to reset the entity manually (after it’s been stuck for hours and I finally notice). It is only this one camera/entity; all the others are fine.
Here is my Alert:
And my Reset:
I’ve watched the topic on MQTT Explorer and can say with certainty that the topic is updating with ON/OFF payloads as it should. I did this today, and I observed the topic revert to OFF in MQTT Explorer but the HA entity stayed Detected for a few minutes until I finally restarted HA. Then, I walked along the driveway, got in my car, and drove off, and it has remained Clear all the while, so it seems that it is now stuck in the Clear state. Meanwhile, all the other camera entities follow their MQTT topics precisely, which I also observed today while I was using MQTT Explorer. It’s just the driveway camera that gets stuck.
Any idea why just the driveway camera is giving me trouble? I’m tempted to remove the camera from BI and start over with that one, but since this seems to be an HA issue I’d rather do the HA equivalent and leave my BI settings alone.
