Hello, I have HA Green and I first tried a Ziquigoa 5.4 adapter with an antenna but it would not set up. I replaced it with a Ugreen 5.4 adapter and it is also saying failed setup despite being in the configured section of my devices. I’ve spent the last few hours with a AI agent and I’m getting nowhere. This is all tied to trying to get my Flic buttons to work. I’ve submitted an Issue on GH for the Flicd by pschmitt but have received no response on that front.
Are any of those adapters listed in the supported adapters section of the Bluetooth integration page?
The Ugreen model in the list is no longer available. I figured a newer version would work. Am I wrong?
Yep, I’m afraid so.
You can’t buy a different model and expect it to work just because it’s the same manufacturer. The chip needs to be the one on the list, otherwise it won’t work.
Why not try a Bluetooth proxy if you can’t find an adapter that’s on the list?
I’m not familiar with a BT proxy but just looked it up. Seems like it needs an esp32. I don’t have a separate esp32 but I believe there is one in my HA Green? The HA integration page says there is a max of 3 BT items using the proxy which is very limiting. What are the reasons to use a proxy vs finding an adapter that’s on the list?
This applies to most Bluetooth adapters as well. Most of the high performance adapters named in the Bluetooth docs can have five connections and a couple can have seven.
This is active connections - where data is being exchanged. You can track as many devices as you like - in fact you’ll find a tracker integration will pick up dozens very quickly.
OK So I’m trying to install the BT Proxy but hitting snags. I have no coding skills so I’m using an AI agent to assist. I can’t find a simple graphic ui to configure for me. I got ESPHome builder as an add-on and updated the f/w then went ot the open web ui. There I see the BT proxy and I validated and then installed it using the manual method. It then asks me which method to download and I select Factory method. As it downloads into my Chrome is says 'Insecure Download Blocked" next to the file name in the download manager of Chrome. I don’t seem to be on the right track.
Separately the AI agent said that if ESP wants to install a web version 24.11.1 that it was the wrong version? What do you human’s think?
