Hello everyone, I am new to Home Assistant and have been enjoying getting my house wired and automated so far, so good. I have interfaced my garage door with a home assistant so I can control opening and closing from the app.
I was looking for a Bluetooth button that can connect to my phone, and “control” the garage door up/down toggle in the home assistant app. The intent is to eliminate the need to open my phone and navigate to the app in order to open the door. Does any know if such a device exists for iOS.
Many such switches exist that work with home assistant. You are not limited to Bluetooth communication with your phone. You could use wifi, zwave, or zigbee if you have any of these already and their coverage extends to the location you want to use the button.
Did you find any solution? I have the same use case as you, open the garage door when I arrive with the motorbike. Having a bluetooth button with the keys, would be close to my phone (in my pocket) and the app would be able to connect to HA and send the command to open the door.
Using a button connected to the Wifi or Zigbee isn’t a good option, since it requires some time to establish the connection, which isn’t very user friendly.
