Bluetooth: hci0: initialization error - VMWare Workstation Player 17

A VM was created in VMWare Workstation Player 17 running in a Lenovo M910Q Tiny Windows machine and the host Bluetooth is working.

The Home Assistant VM seems to be mostly working except for a persistent Bluetooth initialization problem. From what I’m reading there are some known Bluetooth issues and creating an ESP32 Bluetooth Proxy may be a workaround. Before going down that route I’m wondering if there is a way to fix the problem.

I believe hci0 is related to Bluetooth BLE and this screenshot is what I’m seeing in the VM Player.

I think I figured it out. Go into settings and and uncheck share bluetooth adapter with VM under the USB controller.

I am having the same problem. Where are the settings you changed, home assistant or VM?

I’m right there with you… Do you have a USB Bluetooth adapter that works with VMware/Windows/HA?
