Bluetooth issues on hassio rpi4?

Hi!

I’m transitioning from hassbian on a rpi3 to hassio on a rpi4. Trying to build my own Bluetooth LE add on but simply cannot get simple things such as hcitool to work on the root shell. Seems like the hardware isn’t recognized at all. I’ve been looking all over the internets but haven’t found any remedy yet. Is Bluetooth supposed to work on hassio running on a rpi4?

Warm regards,

I don’t think Bluetooth is working on hassio at all, as you say it doesn’t seem to be able to find the hardware, in spite of the hardware working fine if you use it in a different container.

There is a github issue open about it, but iirc nobody from the dev team has looked at it.

Bus 003 Device 003: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)

The container is using the host network.

configuration.yaml:

device_tracker:
  - platform: bluetooth_tracker
    request_rssi: true
    new_device_defaults:
    track_new_devices: true
[Lucky Patcher](https://luckypatcher.cam/) [Kodi](https://kodi.software/) [nox](https://nox.tips/)

Hmm, I’m not sure I’m following your thoughts here. Can you expand a bit? I’ve tried the device_tracker module but not sure on how I can move forward.

Warm regards,

I think it might be. Failed to update to 0.103.4. Bluetooth trackers were dead and error communicating with local bluetooth adapter in logs.

Rebooted, bluetooth trackers started working again, updated to 0.103.4 just fine. Just waiting for Bluetooth to die again now…

I think I ran into the same issue trying to get some xiaomi miFlora sensors working . I tried updating to hassio 3.4 but it didn’t help

I got mine to work by installing version 3.4
