Bluetooth presence detection in car EDIT: person state

Hi,

I’m a truck driver and i listen spotify all the way.
Is it possible to change my status to “work” when i connect to a certain bluetooth device (in this case the radio of my truck)
Also, sometimes i have to load/unload by myself, so i want to change status back to away after 30 minutes or so, so it doesn’t change everytime i get out of the vehicle for a couple of minutes.

I tried the bluetooth sensor of my smartphone, but don’t really understand it.

I suppose you can use the device tracker see service and set the location name to work.
Not sure how that functions when you are moving since that could update the location name.

I think you need to create a separate device tracker that is you that is strictly controlled by automations.

Okay, so i tried to update my status to work when the device tracker from my car is in zone “work” i did this with device_tracker.see

I need to fill a Device ID which should be found in known_devices.yaml

There is no Device ID in known_devices.yaml

So i tried with samsung_van_jaap because the device tracker is called: device_tracker.samsung_van_jaap but nothing happens.

Phone devices have the source of GPS, I doubt you can set them.
Try as I said before, create a new device tracker that you control.
